We stayed at Il Borghetto Resort & Spa this week and had an amazing experience! The property is absolutely beautiful — the grounds are perfectly maintained and incredibly peaceful. Our room was large, very comfortable, and spotless.

The pool area is fantastic, with a great bar and plenty of space to relax. Breakfast was a real highlight — fresh, delicious, and with lots of variety. Honestly, one of the best we’ve had!

We loved everything about our stay and would definitely come back. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for comfort, charm, and a relaxing escape.

Il Borghetto was a perfect choice for visiting Tropea. Only a few kilometers out of Tropea town (and a hotel shuttle can drop you in town and pick you up for a nominal charge, saving the need for a taxi - which are a rarity in Tropea) the hotel had beautiful grounds and a wonderful pool that was large and ultra clean. A small bar beside the pool could provide snacks and drinks, and there are plenty of umbrellas available to sit under. One of the best things about Il Borghetto is the staff, with Eleanore, Frederika, Manuel, Massimo and so many others making you really feel like part of the family. The hotel picked us up from the train station and dropped us off again when our stay was over. The fresh breakfast in the morning was something you looked forward to the day before . Tasty and homemade food was a delight. I would stay again without hesitation. We even arranged a massage at the hotel for my wife and I and Vera. the masseuse was an expert at her job! All in all a wonderful Tropean stay.

Il Borghetto is genuinely beautiful, well designed, pristine clean and immediately relaxing on arrival. The pool is a salt water pool (no salt taste by the way) with no added chemicals which makes for a very fresh and soft water experience. Complete with a shaded reading area and kiosk bar serving drinks and food. We stayed in a superior room with balcony overlooking the pool area and out to the sea ( I believe they all do unless you select a garden view) which was modern, well laid out with great functional air conditioning and a large bathroom with walk in shower. Spacious bedroom area with high ceilings adding an additional layer of comfort. Supplied with a fridge full of soft drinks (chargeable on use) and standard kettle and beverages. |Practical considerations, you do ideally need a car to make the most of the area to|Visit the centre and the beach / port. There is no restaurant at the hotel , so go and enjoy what are a selection of incredible and varied eateries with the Romano restaurant associated with the hotel which is a cut above the rest with exceptional local cuisine and taste.( you pay a little more but you don't have to dine there every night). There is also a very good restaurant/ pizzeria within 5 minutes walk of the hotel called the Locanda if you wanted to stay local. |If you like walking then walk to the centre but it gets humid , taxis are available and parking is best achieved earlier in the evening. You cannot underestimate the secure gated parking Il Borghetto offers when you genuinely see what is available and you definitely cannot underestimate the warmth and embrace of a family run establishment from the Romano family through arrival , breakfast and departure

Just left there September 16, 2025. Experience was second to none. Great location, minutes to Tropea and the beach by car. Rooms tastefully decorated and clean. Breakfast was our favourite meal of the day. A family run business and the staff were amazing. Loved everything about it. Would return in a heartbeat. Paul & Jo

What a find! After traveling extensively, I can confidently say this hotel in Calabria is a hidden gem. The fact that it's family-owned and operated adds such a special warmth and quality to the hospitality that you rarely encounter.
Our family absolutely loved our two rooms, perfectly situated with a lovely view of the pool and the stunning ocean beyond. And the breakfast? It's a highlight you won't forget! Freshly made by the owners each morning, it was so incredibly tasty and comforting that we savored every bite.
We're already planning our return for a longer stay because we simply fell in love with Calabria, and this hotel was a huge part of it. A heartfelt thank you for making our family feel so welcome and cared for!

Sorry but our experience was a No-Go.
The Pictures shows the disgusting reality we faced right after check in!
We wasted 3 hours of our holidays and had a lots of stress because of this hotel.

These days I feel like a lot of reviews are fake / bought.

The pictures on their website look like a total different place.
When we arrived you could already see that the place is not maintained.
We had to carry all of our lagguage a Mountain down to the room that was more like a camping apartment then a 5 Star hotel.
Besides that the real problem just begun as our room was full of hairs and dirt from guests before us. I think the pictures speak enough.

Also the breakfast area was uncovered for shadow, we would melt in the sun. But we checked out right 15 minutes later. I can not recommend anyone this place.

And I have no idea how they get 5 Stars?
- there is no restaurant in the hotel
- no room service
- the reception closes at 8pm

Really? A 5 Star hotel has a 24/7 room service, 24/7 reception and a laguage service. This was a 2 star hotel experienced.

The only good thing was, that they just let us cancel our booking.

Great place with good views. Staff was really nice and they have an incredible breakfast. Not to far from the city center and they offer a shuttle service if you need one.

This resort is a wonderful respite from the busy town of Tropea. We moved here when our original accommodations in town didn’t work out and are so glad that we did! The grounds are beautifully landscaped, the pool is gorgeous with a small lunch menu and bar available throughout the day, chill music playing, and very friendly service. There are several day beds under some palm trees and seating areas throughout the property. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and modern. We had three rooms and the best one was #13 which was sea view with a very large patio with lounge chairs and seating area. The best part of the stay is how friendly the service is. Manuel took great care of us and shows a great deal of pride in the resort and his family business. His grandmother’s house is the original structure of the property and is now where they serve breakfast to guests each morning. It as such a nice blend of family heritage with modern amenities. My only regret is we found this at the end of our trip and could only stay for one night. I hope to be back for a longer stay one day!
